The #1 Root-Cause Of All Breakups + Why Your Ex Lied About It

Video Summary

In this video, relationship specialist Brad Browning explains why your ex lied about why he broke up with you and reveals the real reason for the breakup.

Some breakups happen for very obvious reasons such as when one or the other cheated. But in most cases, as in yours perhaps, the causes seem obscure and the reason your ex gave you even more so.

Why did he lie?

When your ex broke up with you, you might have felt that the reason he gave you was a flat lie. Or it could be that how he justified the breakup had some grain of truth in it but he wasn’t being 100% honest.

The reasons may have seemed too preposterous to believe but he gave them anyway. Why? It’s because he felt compelled to explain the breakup to give you closure and he chose the reasons that he felt would hurt the least.

Breakups are painful enough. It was painful for you but it was no less difficult for your ex, especially if the breakup was reasonably amicable. Considering the real reason for breaking up with you, he must have felt that he had nothing to gain by telling you the truth and hurting you more than was necessary.

What is the real reason behind the breakup?

As in most cases, the reason your ex gave you must have been partially true. He may have picked one aspect that was troubling your relationship and made it seem like the main reason behind the breakup.

It’s important to realize, though, that breakups are fundamentally caused by one thing: the loss of attraction.

Whatever reasons your ex gave you for ending your relationship may be true to a certain degree. But ultimately, the real reason – and the one reason he can’t admit to you – is because he’s just not attracted to you anymore.

Why is attraction so important?

Every romantic relationship is held together by attraction. Being sexually and emotionally attracted to someone is what makes that someone special. Loving someone is being attracted to that person. So when that attraction is gone, the relationship is doomed to fail.

The loss of attraction may sometimes be eroded over time – maybe you’ve gained weight, maybe your ex lost interest, or maybe the relationship felt stale. Sometimes, too, the loss of attraction may be quite sudden such as when a partner cheats.

Whatever the causes may be, and whether it was a gradual or a sudden loss of attraction, the lesson to be learned from this is that if you want to rebuild a new relationship with your ex, attraction holds the key.
