Where Do I Stand in This Relationship? Here’s the Key To Have a Successful Talk About Your Relationship With Him
Video Summary
In this video Mat Boggs shares his take on how to find out where you stand in a relationship.
Want to know where you are in your relationship? This is the final part of our how to tell if a guy likes you series, enabling you to see what he wants from your relationship and where he thinks your relationship is going.
Share What You Want
Make it clear exactly what you want from the relationship – if you want a deep, meaningful, monogamous relationship in the future – and this is key – then you should tell him. But always share your vision for what you personally want in the future. Don’t make it about you and the guy and don’t make it about right now – just explain what you want from the future. Include information about the type of life that you want to create for yourself, rather than just your relationship.
Invite Him to Share
Because you’re already in an honest set-up – you’ve invited him to be honest with you and you’re already in that “serious talk” space, the next step is to invite him to share with you what he wants from the future. He might not know what he wants right away, and he might ask you to wait a little while, or, he might want exactly what you want. But if you give him the opportunity to share with you, he might well step up to plate and be what you want him to be.
Be Positive
If he doesn’t tell you what you want to hear – for example, if he tells you he’s currently dating other women or if he explains that he’s just not ready for a relationship right now, keep your negativity in check and be positive instead. Instead of ranting and raving and getting upset, simply say “Thank you for being honest with me”. Explain that you probably let the relationship progress too quickly without getting a check on how it was developing – and don’t be upset. If you move on from one guy who isn’t right for you, you can move onto another guy who is right for you.
