The One Hard Truth About Getting Your Ex Back- Why Awareness Matters + How It Can Help You Get Your Ex Back
Video Summary
In this video, Clay Andrews, a relationship coach discusses the first of what he calls the three mindset pillars, awareness.
What is awareness?
In our technical world, with as many distractions as we have around us, it is often difficult to live in the moment. We are constantly bombarded with other stimuli and distractions. So it is within your relationships. At the end of a busy day, your partner may be trying to express her frustration at something that happened in her day, but if you do not focus on the moment and actually listen to her, you are demonstrating something different from love or concern. If you are living somewhere other than the now, you may be cheating yourself and those around you.
Why is awareness important?
If you’ve ever been on the receiving end of an experience as we describe here; trying to talk to somebody while they are on the phone, playing video games, or simply focused on a television program, you know how very irritating it can be. It’s just as irritating when you are actually talking with your partner and you can tell she is so busy trying to formulate her next talking point, that she isn’t listening to a word you say. Practicing awareness of the moment helps to give your partner (or your business colleagues, for that matter,) the sense that they matter and you value them.
Staying focused on what is happening between you and the person you’re with is critical to developing healthy relationships. You have to establish a few priorities. If you believe that your relationship with your partner is more important than your email to your happiness, it’s important that you give that partnership and all its facets an appropriate priority on your list of things to.
How can awareness help you mend your relationship?
Good relationships are based on mutual respect and trust. If you disrespect your partner (or your ex partner) so thoroughly as to disregard her attempts to communicate with you, you’re on very rocky ground. It’s critical to practice living in the moment, training your attention on what is happening now and remaining focused on what is real and important at this very moment.
By practicing awareness – and it is something you must work at daily – you will be seen as a person who is respectful of the time and energy of others and worthy of the trust that is at the very heart of every good relationship.
