Many people envision after active no contact that they will be able to meet up for coffee with their ex and be married by the next day. It does not work this way because you and your ex are building a new relationship now. You have to look at this first meet up as a first date and the start of something new.
Fast moving relationships tend to fail
Relationships that move quickly are not usually successful. Typically when you move to quickly, you are in trouble. You need to get to know each other first before you can decide if you want to be in a serious relationship or not.
Move slow to learn fast
You want to move as slowly as possible to learn as quickly as possible if the two of you are compatible. Most successful relationships follow a pattern of dating and getting to know each other, to getting a little more serious, to engagement and then marriage over a longer time period. You need to be okay with dating your ex all over again in this fashion because what you are doing is starting a new relationship, not falling back into the old, unhealthy one. You are building new, positive memories together and you need to move slowly to do this.
